The biggest douche in sports, Sepp Blatter, announced today that he is stepping down as President of FIFA. Mind you, this is not effective immediately, but it still a step in the right direction for the organization that governs the most popular sport in the world. Blatter was just elected to another term as President of FIFA, a position he has had since 1998.
Bethesda Studios looks like it’s about to reveal Fallout 4. Tomorrow, at about 10 am ET, the countdown clock at a newly launched site Bethesda released will end and everyone is hoping that means we will get a reveal of the much anticipated game. The website reads “Please Stand By” with the countdown clock underneath it.
Ever since Fallout 4 was initially teased, I was super excited for it. I was a big fan of Fallout 3, and although Fallout: New Vegas had its issues, it was still very good.
Fallout 4 is rumored to be taking place in Boston and will keep with all the features that made the game famous including the open world gameplay and the VATS system. The game is also rumored to be a cross-gen game, so Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 users can also play the game.
My biggest worry for this reveal is that we are still a year or so away from release. It would be a bit deflating (get it, because it’s taking place in Boston?) to get all excited for the reveal and then have to wait a really long time to actually get your hands on the game. I cannot emphasize how much I do not want a repeat of the Battlefront reboot or Batman Arkham Knight.
Check back tomorrow morning for the full release on everything Fallout 4!
I know it’s 2015, and I know everyone and their mother, or let’s be real, their grandmother has a smartphone and access to social media accounts, but can we seriously stop leaking pictures and videos from movie sets? I understand why people do it: it’s interesting to see how production is going, how the characters look in costume, and really wanting to get your 15 seconds by being known for being the person that leaked a certain thing.
Please Note: Some Spoilers Do Follow, You Have Been Warned
Friday night there were a rumor circling around Twitter that Disney had chosen to cancel Tron 3 which was set to begin shooting this year. In the days since, the rumor has picked up more and more where it looks like it is true.
The Chicago Blackhawks ve. Anaheim Ducks playoff series might be one of the best series I have ever seen. It had everything from huge comebacks to multiple overtime games. The pace of play in this series was ridiculous and I can only hope the Stanley Cup Finals are half as exciting.
This weekend is going to be incredible for hockey. Two Game 7’s in the conference finals featuring the league’s four best teams (based on roster, not solely on record). The first of the two went down last night and the Tampa Bay Lightning emerged as the victors.
Last night’s game was tight throughout. Both Henrik Lundqvist and Ben Bishop were spectacular, though Lundqvist was being left out to dry by his defence far more often than Bishop. It was scoreless throughout the game until Alex Killorn was able to slide a backhand through Lundqvist’s five hole (at 01:54 of the 3rd period) which the goalie never saw. Some are saying it was a softie, but it’s really hard to stop a puck which you never see and barely feel.
The Rangers never really responded to that goal. They were flat the majority of the game and it showed during the third. Less than 10 minutes later, Tyler Johnson (11:17 of the 3rd) set up Ondrej Palat, who went top corner, to beat The King and give the Bolts an insurmountable 2-0 lead.
Even with the goalie pulled for the final three or so minutes, the Rangers were never really able to get a really good scoring chance. Their shots were either being blocked by diving defenders or stopped by Bishop, who was a stonewall last night. In the biggest game of the season, guys like Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis were invisible and the depth guys just couldn’t get it done.
Half the Stanley Cup Final is set and now the Lightning await the winner of the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Anaheim Ducks series. My gut says Chicago tonight.
I am more excited for Batman: Arkham Knight than I ever have been for any other videogame. I loved the first two installments of the trilogy, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and I even loved Arkham Origins which I think got more hate than it deserved.
A cool thing Rocksteady has been doing is releasing these developer videos about different aspects of the game. If you haven’t watched them yet, you should. This week’s focuses on the Batmobile and I, for one, loved every second of it.
This site was created by me, Nick Lovett. I’m an unemployed 21 year old college graduate who loves sports, video games, movies, and TV. I chose the name Midnite Release because this one seemed pretty cool (sorry about the “cool kid” spelling of Midnite, I had no choice), and it was relevant to the topics I will be posting about so it worked. The blog is on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch right now so you can follow those at your choosing. If you want to, you can also follow my personal Twitter account if you want to hear me talk about random stuff.
I want this blog to be fun so if you have any suggestions whatsoever, tweet them to me on either account or comment on one of my pages and I’ll do my best to accommodate everyone. Thanks for reading, guys!
