Jon Bernthal, who played Shane on The Walking Dead, has been cast to play Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher, in season 2 of the Netflix Original, Daredevil.

If you haven’t watched season one of Daredevil, you should. As opposed to a lot of the Marvel stuff out there, Daredevil was dark and gritty. There was a lot of brutality that can be highlighted by a certain car door taking off the head of one of the characters. Aside from the feel of the show, it was written very well and the first season had a lot of good storylines and the acting was great.

Charlie Cox plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil and does a great job playing the blind lawyer and crime fighter, and Law and Order alum Vincent D’Onofrio plays Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin, and does a remarkable job playing a quiet but powerful man who can have some anger management issues (see: car door).

As for the Punisher, it’s going to be awesome having him on the show. Frank Castle is a great character that can bring a lot to the show as a vigilante. I know Bernthal will do great with this character and we have seen his dark side in The Walking Dead and that is very promising for this show.
